FAQs For Sessions

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are considering making an enquiry, the answers below should cover most of what you need to know. If your question is not here, introduce yourself and ask directly.

What is The Inner Vice and what does it actually do?

The Inner Vice provides executive stress relief and burnout recovery for senior professionals in London and Surrey. The methodology – the Architecture of Control – works by temporarily suspending the professional’s requirement to be in charge, allowing the nervous system to shift from chronic sympathetic activation into genuine parasympathetic recovery. It is not therapy, not coaching, and not a conventional wellness service. It works through a different mechanism than any of those.

Is this a traditional therapy service?

No. The Inner Vice does not offer clinical therapy or medical treatment. It is an experiential intervention – a structured, authority-led session that produces physiological reset through the removal of cognitive load and the temporary release of professional identity. Claudia has no clinical credentials and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact your GP or a qualified mental health professional.

How is this different from executive coaching?

Executive coaching works at the level of strategy, performance, and behavioural change – it is a cognitive intervention that asks the mind to do more thinking. That is valuable for many things. It does not address the physiological state underlying executive burnout, because it asks the depleted prefrontal cortex to perform more cognitive work. The Inner Vice works at the level of the nervous system directly, through an experience that bypasses cognitive effort entirely. The two are not in competition – many clients use both.

Why does this work when rest, holidays and mindfulness have not?

When the nervous system is in chronic sympathetic overdrive – the physiological state underlying most executive burnout – removing external pressure does not remove the internal state. The body does not know the meeting has been cancelled. Cortisol remains elevated, the mind continues processing, and conventional rest does not reach the depth required for genuine recovery. Mindfulness asks the depleted prefrontal cortex to do more cognitive work. The Inner Vice removes the cognitive requirement entirely, giving the nervous system the conditions it actually needs to downregulate. For a detailed explanation, read: Why Relaxation Doesn’t Work for High Performers.

What is the Architecture of Control?

The Architecture of Control is Claudia’s methodology – a bespoke framework developed over 25 years working with the specific psychology of authority, surrender, and cognitive reset. It operates through three core mechanisms: somatic grounding, which uses physical presence and sensory focus to pull the mind out of abstraction and into the immediate moment; psychological interruption, which breaks persistent thought loops through structured protocol; and identity decompression, which allows the professional persona to be set aside entirely. The cumulative result is what Claudia calls The Clean Slate – a state of genuine mental zero from which real recovery becomes possible.

What is Decision Fatigue and why does it matter?

Decision fatigue is the progressive deterioration of cognitive function that follows sustained high-volume decision-making. Research demonstrates that the prefrontal cortex – responsible for judgement, planning, and self-regulation – draws from a finite resource. The more decisions made, the more depleted that resource becomes. For the senior professional whose role involves constant high-stakes decision-making as its permanent baseline, this depletion becomes chronic. It is the neurological foundation of most executive burnout. For a full explanation, read: Decision Fatigue in Executives.

What is somatic reset and how does it matter for stress?

Somatic means of the body. Somatic reset refers to physiological interventions that work directly with the nervous system and the body rather than through the analytical mind. Chronic stress is held physically – in elevated cortisol, sustained muscle tension, disrupted sleep, suppressed immune function. Addressing it purely through talking and thinking reaches only part of the problem. Somatic intervention reaches the rest, producing parasympathetic recovery that cognitive approaches alone cannot.

Who is Claudia?

Claudia is the founder and practitioner of The Inner Vice. She is a mature feminine authority with 25 years of experience in the precise psychology of power exchange, cognitive load, and structured reset. Claudia is a male practitioner who presents feminine authority for this work – a deliberate choice that creates a specific psychological dynamic distinct from conventional masculine or feminine authority. Both identities are intentional and fully integrated.

What are Claudia’s credentials?

Claudia’s authority comes from 25 years of direct, practical experience working with the psychology of power exchange, authority, and cognitive reset – not from academic qualification. The Inner Vice is not a clinical service and does not claim to be. It is a highly specialised experiential intervention delivered by a practitioner with deep, specific expertise in a field that formal training programmes do not cover.

Why does a male practitioner represent feminine authority?

Claudia’s feminine expression is not performance – it is a fully integrated aspect of identity that has evolved over decades. Presenting feminine authority through a male form creates what Claudia describes as a third way: neither the conventional masculine authority most clients encounter in professional life, nor a straightforward feminine dynamic. This specific psychological friction is part of what makes the work effective. It bypasses the standard defences and allows for a more nuanced and genuinely disorienting experience of surrender.

What happens in a session?

Every engagement begins with a confidential consultation – either by correspondence or in person – to understand your situation, establish what you are looking for, and determine the appropriate session format. The session itself is structured entirely by Claudia. You are given clear parameters beforehand. Within those parameters, your only task is to be present. There is no script you need to follow, no performance required, no homework afterwards. Sessions conclude with a period of grounding before you return to your day.

Do I need prior experience?

No. Most clients come with no previous experience of this kind of work. The consultation process is designed to establish exactly where you are and what you need, and the session is calibrated accordingly. Claudia has worked with complete novices and experienced clients alike. The methodology adapts to the individual.

What are the session formats?

The Briefing (1 hour) – an introductory session. The right starting point for most new clients: sufficient depth to experience the methodology and assess whether a longer session is appropriate.

The Reset (2 hours) – the standard session format. Sufficient for a complete cognitive reset for most professionals who are depleted but not at crisis point.

The Deep Reset (up to 4 hours) – for those carrying significant accumulated cognitive load. A more extended intervention with a correspondingly deeper clean slate.

The Inner Sanctum (up to 8 hours) – a full-day intervention. Reserved for those whose depletion requires more than a partial reset can address.

Mentorship (POA) – an ongoing working relationship for those who want to integrate the methodology into their professional life over time. Discussed directly.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place in private therapy rooms and selected hotels across Surrey and Central London. Locations include Cobham, Weybridge, Esher, Guildford, St George’s Hill, Wentworth, Reigate, Mayfair, the City, and Canary Wharf. The exact location is confirmed after the consultation and booking process is completed. There are no premises, no waiting rooms, and no reception staff.

How is my privacy protected?

Discretion is not a feature of the service – it is a structural requirement. Your name, professional identity, and the details of your sessions are held in absolute confidence. Session locations are disclosed only after the consultation and booking process is finalised. Claudia works with a small number of clients and the selectivity of that process is itself part of the privacy architecture.

What is the booking process?

All enquiries begin with an introduction. Use the form on this site to introduce yourself – your situation, what you are looking for, and any relevant context. Claudia reviews all enquiries personally. If the work is a fit, she will respond to arrange a consultation. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to confirm any booking, with the balance settled in full before the session. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for new clients to allow for the consultation process.

Can I make multiple bookings?

Yes, after an initial session. Returning clients are not required to repeat the consultation process.

Do you work with clients with disabilities or health conditions?

Yes. Sessions are adapted to suit individual physical and psychological requirements. Please disclose any relevant conditions during the consultation so that an appropriate premises and session format can be arranged.

How do I know if this is right for me?

The Inner Vice is designed for a specific type of professional. If you lead at a senior level, carry significant decision-making responsibility, have found that conventional stress management approaches have not produced genuine recovery, and value absolute discretion above all else – this is likely a fit. If you are uncertain, introduce yourself anyway. The consultation process will establish whether the work is appropriate for your situation.

Is this suitable if I have tried therapy and it hasn’t helped?

Yes – and many clients arrive having already engaged meaningfully with therapy without finding the relief they needed. This is not a reflection on the quality of the therapy. Therapy and the work at The Inner Vice address different aspects of the same problem through different mechanisms. They are complementary rather than competing. Claudia does not discourage clients from maintaining a therapeutic relationship alongside their work at The Inner Vice.

Do you see clients from further afield?

The Inner Vice primarily serves the Surrey commuter belt and Central London. Clients travelling from further afield are considered on a case by case basis. Mention your location in your introduction and it will be factored into the consultation.
